Analog LP and Cassette to Digital MP3 All-in-One Recording Tool

We’ve been helping DAKonians give new digital life to classic LP records, cassettes and even reel to reels since 2003. From start to finish, DAK’s Audio Workshop is the single most comprehensive program developed with user experience in mind.

It’s now easier than ever before to record analog music from any available recording source on your computer, edit that recording, customize it, remove annoying pops and clicks, equalize, split it into individual tracks and tag the tracks with title, artist, album and cover art and export into digital files that you’ll put on a CD or smartphone and listen to thousands of times.

DAK’s Audio Workshop vs. Standard LP to CD and MP3 programs

The biggest problem with other audio recording programs is that they’re just general purpose.

That means that these programs might have some features that you need, many that you don’t, and none of it is organized methodically.

Sure, it might be a good program, but if it wasn’t created with your restoration project in mind, it’s inefficient at best.

DAK’s Audio Workshop was born out of the need for a faster and easier way to digitize your analog music collection. I’ve been converting vinyl records and cassette tapes for years using programs that we’ve created as well as programs created by others. Nothing, not even our custom-developed programs, were smooth enough, or intuitive enough, for me to say I enjoyed converting LPs to mp3 files.

So we rolled up our sleeves and rebuilt our program from the ground up with you in mind.
It’s quick to learn and efficient to use.

Recording, Editing and Track Splitting

Here’s a peek at how you’ll be using DAK’s Audio Workshop.

Recording
You start at the recording tab.
This is where you’ll be recording your music, plain and simple.
Play it back to check your work.
Save the file.
Move on to the next tab.

File Editing
Here you’ll perform all of the audio touch-ups to your newly saved file, including pop and hiss removal and equalization.
It’s all under the Effects menu.
Save your work and continue on to the next tab.

Track Splitting
You’ve already recorded the entire side of your vinyl record or tape cassette onto the computer.
Now load it into the Track Splitter to quickly separate that long recording into individual song tracks.
The Track Splitter uses an adjustable algorithm to find the silences between tracks, but you can also manually place the track splits.
Export your individual songs, enter the album and artist information, and load the songs onto your smartphone or MP3 Player (or burn to a CD- we’ll show you how).

Try out Audio Workshop today, I’d love to hear your comments so we can begin working on the next version with even more improvements!

REVIEWS
The majority of my recordings sound as if the vinyl had never before been on a turntable. As if the LP seal had been immediately broken and placed on the platter for the very first time. Considering that most of my LPs are 40-50 years old, I find that to be quite remarkable. All because of the DAK recording program technology, the DePopper program, and my meticulous handling and storage of my LPs over these many years. The extra effort was well worth it and has handsomely paid off in excellent quality MP3 digital recordings.
