Why Not To Buy
A USB Turntable In Detail.
Lots Of Pictures Below.
You see lots of ads for USB Turntables. But are they right for you?
Check out what to look for and what's often missing.
It's good to know.

It's really about:
Your Turntable Or Ours
The Only Audiophile System
LPs To CDs & MP3s Fast & Best
Plugs Right Into Your PC - Easy
No USB Turntable Here. You get a Pro Disc Jockey Turntable & professional phono preamp. Plus you get a top quality magnetic cartridge with an elliptical diamond stylus, not just a ceramic cartridge, yuck.

Plus, I think you'll agree the world's best recording & restoration programs (not free Audacity) give you the best audiophile broadcast quality copies of your records fast & easy.
1.) The quality of the digital sound you're going to get.
Your computer already has a great sound card. Unfortunately with USB turntables, a 2nd sound card is required in the turntable. Sound cards can cost $50-$100. So, how much is left for the quality of the turntable?

Oh, and by default with a USB turntable, you'll lose all your normal computer sounds
when the USB turntable is plugged in. But at least there's a trick you can use to get around this problem or you can unplug the USB turntable when you want to get your normal computer sounds back.

2.) The ease of getting each song separated into tracks so you can keep the ones you want and delete the ones you don't and program them on CDs.
The Automated DAK Track Tracker gives you 1st time every time separated tracks/songs without making you stop and save each track separately, like the free programs that often come with USB turntables, which can take hours or relying on unreliable silence sensing.

3.) The ability to really remove the scratches, clicks and pops WITHOUT hurting the sound.
With DAK you get a separate professional Digital Noise Reduction program that removes clicks, scratches, pops and surface noise from records and hiss from cassettes without hurting the sound. Plus it's just check the box totally automated easy and it will do 100 tracks at once, rather than make you do one track at a time.

4.) The ability to BOTH burn your tracks on to CDs with DAK's integrated burner and convert them to MP3s with DAK's integrated converter for your MP3 Player or iTunes/iPods.
Burn your tracks with NO PAUSES between tracks for uninterrupted don't break the mood CDs or burn with normal pauses if you like. DAK includes 4 burners so you can burn standard audio CDs with and without pauses and MP3 CDs and backup CDs and DVDs of all your treasured tracks. You sure don't get multiple CD burners in free software programs or a batch converter that gives you the power to convert 100 tracks at a time to MP3 ready for your iPod or other MP3 player.

Why Not USB?
When you plug in a USB adapter, you deactivate the sound card in your computer and use the USB sound card instead. But you already have a perfectly good sound card in your computer.

Often it costs $100 or more. So why get a turntable system for $120 to $200 that includes another sound card when you don't need it. How many of your hard earned dollars are left for the quality of the turntable, preamp and recording software? And is the USB sound card as good as yours?

Plus look at this. You need to use a special software workaround playthrough feature to even hear your sound as you record with a USB sound card.

Plus, with a USB turntable, if you are just getting the Free Audacity recording program, you can download that for free on the Internet right now. Just search Google and download it now. You don't have to buy anything from anyone to get it. And for any other program is it Vista Compatible too?

Plus with Audacity Freeware, where are you going to get the step-by-step how to movies and professional, personal pictorial tech support you get at DAK?

With DAK's system, you get $52.95 worth of created for this purpose programs and tutorials (Not Just Some Freeware) and step-by-step show you the way movie tutorials. I think you'll find there's no comparison at all.

So, why not use the sound card already in your computer? It's great. Why PAY for a 2nd Sound Card? Wouldn't you rather spend your money on a great quality turntable and great recording and restoration programs rather than a 2nd sound card you don't need?

And if you already own a perfectly good turntable, Why PAY for even on DAK's professional disc jockey turntable. (It's great and you may want to, but you don't have to.) Just use your own turntable and our PC mixer interface preamp and recording and restoration programs we include and that complete system is just $69.90.

It's worth checking out BEFORE you buy. And what about the Clicks, Pops and scratches? Do you get separate restoration program? With DAK you do.

Note: for notebook computers you actually do need a USB adapter as there are no line in jacks. That's the only time we recommend using an adapter and we have one if you do have a laptop.
Preamps Built Into Turntables?
Heck, I haven't seen a preamp built into a turntable since, well we were using victrolas.

Finally, why put the preamp in the turntable? Heck, I haven't seen a preamp built into a turntable since, well we were using victrolas. Check out any audiophile turntable. The preamps are always in your receivers or separate. DAK's preamp is built into our entirely separate Interface Mixer Preamp, see below.

Plus you are only going to play your precious records one time to copy them so don't you want a PRO turntable that has flawless tracking, an anti-skating arm, damped cueing, strobe and pitch control with an aluminum platter? Plus just be sure you are getting a great Magnetic Cartridge with an elliptical diamond stylus?

The answers are all YES with the power of your computer and DAK's Pro Disc Jockey turntable, Separate Mixer Interface Preamp, Digital Recording Programs and all the cables to connect to your desktop/tower computer for just $219 complete for everything.

1. Can you remove Pops, Clicks and Scratches? Do you want to hear the same pops clicks and scratches every time you play your CDs? DAK's included automated restoration software program removes the scratches and clicks and pops from your records and hiss from your cassettes automatically and effortlessly.

Once your tracks are digital, removing the scratches, pops and clicks is easy and fast. And it's included with DAK's complete hardware and software system.

2. Can you separate and choose Tracks/Songs? When you copy a record you normally get one long track so you
can't jump from song to song or pick the songs you want and delete the ones you don't. We find silence sensors only work part of the time and trying to stop and start your record takes forever.

Warning! Most Software Programs make you stop and save each track separately. Check before you buy that you have automated track separation. It's the difference between 2-3 easy minutes or 30 minutes of tedious selecting and saving.

DAK's highly automated Track Tracker Program will separate your tracks first time, every time so you can choose the tracks your want, delete the ones you don't and have fully programmable CDs with just the songs you want from different records in any order you want. This is a very big problem if you don't separate the tracks.

This is what our tutorial movies are like. Check This out. It's fast and fun.

3. Can You Name Your Tracks? Check to see if the software you get allows you to separate and name tracks. And with those separate CD Turntable all-in-one systems, you must use the remote control to name the tracks. You have to hit the A button 3 times to get a C. So trying to name tracks is a real pain. With DAK's complete system, just use your computer keyboard. It's fast and easy. Plus you can keep all your tracks on your computer too and jump from any track to any track like channel surfing with DAK's included Tune Library Jukebox.

4. Save Your Time With No Baby-Sitting Timed Record. Why sit at your computer while your records are being copied. With DAK's new no baby-sitting timed record, you simply set the timer and let the program do all the work.

You don't need to know the length of the record. Just set the recorder for 30 minutes or so and when you come back the recording will be made and waiting for you. DAK's Track Tracker will discard all the blank at the beginning and end of your recordings when it creates your tracks. So, relax it's not like when you recorded cassettes and had to coordinate the needle drop with starting your recording. DAK's programs take care of everything for you.

5. Will Your CDs Play Just About Anywhere? When you use CDRs you should burn at about 1/2 max speed, not full speed or they won't play on many CD players. That's a rule of thumb in the industry. With DAK's system using your computer our INCLUDED CD Writing program gives you easy control of the burn speed. If a CD Writing program doesn't come with the LP to CD system you get, then you'll have to figure out how to slow down your burn speed yourself. With DAK's Program we put it right up front for you.
How Good Is The Turntable?
It's the Sound That counts.
You are only going to play your precious records 1 time when you copy them and then listen to your favorite music copies forever. So, you want flawless reproduction of your records.

Here's what to check for in any turntable you use for copying your LPs and 45s.

Does it come with Magnetic Cartridge with an elliptical diamond stylus on a removable headshell? As long as you are getting a Magnetic cartridge you're fine. But DAK adds a removable universal professional headshell that accepts any Pro cartridge, so you'll never be stuck with a limited proprietary cartridge. Just check that you can get a universal replacement.

And you're going to be listening to your digital copies for years to come. So, just be sure you insist on a professional Magnetic Cartridge with an elliptical diamond stylus like you get with DAK's complete LP to CD system. Many all-in-one CD recorder self standing systems don't use magnetic cartridges.

Does the arm give you the ability to set the precise gram weight for perfect tracking? I'm shocked that turntables are still made that don't have adjustable stylus tracking weight control. Most of the USB turntables do seem to have this.

But some of the all-in-one record players do not. I guess you can just put a nickel on the cartridge to increase the tracking weight, but your records deserve precise 2.5-3.5 gram tracking weight for perfect reproduction. You get complete infinite tracking force control with the professional DAK Turntable system.

Is there a damped cuing arm for gentle needle drops? Many record players don't even have a cueing arm so you don't scratch your records as you lower the stylus. The best have damped cuing arms that gently lower your stylus into the groove for you. Check before you buy. Of course DAK's pro turntable has full damped cueing.

Is there Anti-Skating for the arm. It's a law of physics that the rotational speed of the platter, causes the arm to drag the stylus from the center of the groove. Set the Anti-skating to match the tracking force and track the center of the groove. If you don't, your stylus doesn't track the center of the groove and it's both bad for the record and bad for your sound. DAK's pro turntable has full anti-skating control. Caution: Be sure the Anti-skating knob actually has numbers and really sets anti-skating. If there are no numbers, how can you precisely set it?

Is there a Strobe and Pitch Control for exact speed? Many older records may not be recorded at exactly the correct speed, or maybe you want to change the key. With DAK's turntable you'll have complete strobe and plus or minus a full 10% pitch/key control.

Please Do This Now. Reach behind your computer and run your finger over the desktop. If your finger is like mine it's going to be embarrassingly covered with dust. It's not really your fault, computers and monitors are really dust magnets.

But, it really does matter to your records. Dust causes all sorts of problems. Annoying clicks and pops are bad. What's worse is poor tracking. So do you really want to get a turntable without a Heavy, Clear, Hinged Dust Cover?

Hinged Transparent Dust Cover. Here's a close up of DAK's heavy hinged dust cover. Now you won't have to worry about added clicks and pops. And worse leaving your turntable sitting out to collect dust. Think of the flip side of your record if you lay it down on a dirty turntable.

So, either don't buy a turntable of any kind without a good dust cover, or for sure put a plastic drop-cloth over it or you may find your records don't sound nearly as good as you remembered them sounding.

With DAK's Pro turntable and heavy duty dust cover and the included recording and restoration software, your records are sure to sound much better than you remembered as they will be pure digital when you're done.

Heavy Aluminum Platter. It's a law of physics. The heavier the platter is the more stable it will be. The cheap plastic platters don't offer any protection from flutter and wow. Be sure to check for an aluminum platter. Plastic is fine for toys but you want a heavy platter to protect you from flutter and wow. You are going to make copies that you are going to listen to from now on, so make them sound great.

1- Year Warranty? Forget 90 day limited warranties for equipment like this. Check it out before you buy. And watch out for 'extended warranties' that cost you a ton too to make up for a 90 day warranty. With DAK you get a full 1 Year Standard Limited Warranty. Know what you are getting with a 90 day wonder. Be protected. This is important equipment.

MORE, Much More. But, i
n short, how good do you want your copies to be. Check out the picture below to see DAK's PRO Disc Jockey turntable and the tools it provides for you.
