And here's
what I found. I cued up an MP3 CD I made of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor
Dreamcoat (my favorite musical) and set up a demanding test.
I didn't just let it play. I set
it to repeat track one, "Any Dream Will Do" over and over again.
This caused the player to Play,
Stop, then Search for the track beginning each time it played and reloaded its
120 second anti-shock buffer as it played. A real battery
killer.
So what were the test results?
On Day One, it ran 6 hours and 43 minutes before I stopped it and went
to dinner. Then it ran another 32 minutes when I got back to the office. It was
getting late so I figured I'd better get some sleep.
On Day Two, I ran it nonstop
for 3 hours and 58 minutes. That's an incredible 11 hours
and 13 minutes playing my "Any Dream Will Do" track an extraordinary
252 times on just 2 double AA batteries. Wow!
Did I use special batteries?
Not a chance. As you might imagine I go through batteries faster than a famished
family of 6 wolfing down popcorn at a drive-in theater. I buy discount boxes of
40 alkaline batteries for $14.95 (that's $.37 each). I'll bet you buy better batteries
that will last even longer.
It's

What does this mean to you and
me? Well, you can bet that on my next trip to Maui and back (5 hours each way),
or to Tokyo 9 hours, or even to London, Paris or Rome (about 8 hours for me) I'll
be listening to all my great sounding tunes from a single CD on just one set of
2 AA batteries and so will you from now on. Pretty neat huh?
WHAT??? - YOU DON'T HAVE
A CD BURNER AND MP3 ENCODER YET?
Well for just $69 this is the
one great CD, CDR, CDRW and CD/MP3 player that you'll take with you from now on.
You'll love it for regular CDs today and it won't be obsolete when you or a friend
burn your own CDs and MP3 CDs for it sooner than you think.:)
And don't forget, you
can make copies so your originals are always safe at home in case your CDs are
lost, stolen or stray. Read on.
So, here's the short answer about
burning your own CDs and enjoying the benefits of MP3s. YOU WILL SOON. Because
I'm such a convert to MP3, I'm really going to work on you to join today's musical
technology revolution.
You see, Cassettes
were the MP3s of Yesteryear. Just like you copied your LPs and 45s
onto cassettes so you could take them with you or archive them and protect your
originals at home in the past, MP3s and CDRs are in your future now.
It's easy. It's cheap (very) and
the sound reproduction is flawless. What a great way to preserve your music forever.
So this is the one CD/MP3 player I recommend because you'll use it for standard
phenomenal sounding CDs today, and when you're ready for MP3, it's ready too.
And, to get you into MP3
encoding and CD ROM burning I'm going to help and share the knowledge with you
every step of the way. If you don't already create your own MP3 files, here's
where I recommend you go. And no, they don't even know I'm doing this.
If you'll go to http://www.musicmatch.com,
you can download a free MP3 jukebox and recording program for your PC that will
do it all (by the way, for $19 they have a very nice upgrade that I recommend
getting just like I did). Click
here to popup a picture of what this program will look like on your own desktop.
It's very impressive and lots of fun. Click to take a quick look.

ANTI-SHOCK - ENGINEERED FOR STRESS -
IT'S SKIP FREE UNINTERRUPTIBLE MUSIC
So what's anti-shock? It's really
just a fancy name for a built-in RAM buffer (yes just like your computer). Here's
what happens. Each time you start the CD, the player reads in 45 seconds of audio
(120 seconds of MP3) into the RAM buffer.
When you stress this player while
you're jogging or hit bumps when you're driving (like I do in my Corvette <grin>)
the player plays your music from its buffer without interrupting your music.
Try this
if you dare. When you get the player. Put in a favorite CD. Then Rock
it. Shock it. Shake it. Don't be shy. Really give it a shake. (Please
don't physically break it.)
Anyway I couldn't get it
to skip or stop. And I'll bet you can't either. The point is simple. If
it can pass this test for you and for me (and it can), You'll have Rock Stable
reliable long-term Music to enjoy no matter wherever you are from now on.
LET YOUR FINGERS. . .
REAL BUTTON PROGRAMMABLE.
Frankly CD players have been programmable
for years. But usually you have to slog through programming with just one or 2
buttons. Like a cheap TV, you have to 'step tune' through the tracks one at a
time with no direct access tuning. What a pain.
But now, you'll have full 10 button
number and alpha buttons so you'll just 'direct access' your choices. Want track
12? Punch 1 and 2. That's it. You're done. Direct access rather than step tuning
is great. (Of course, you do have 'step tuning' high speed search too.) Click Here to see your buttons
It really makes it easy to use.
Plus, when you're playing MP3s, you can even find song titles alphabetically.
And much more.
Plus, you'll repeat a favorite
track over and over again like I did for my battery test, or my wife did for the
Kingston trio's Song "Aspen Gold" that she loves. So, you're just a
button click away from your music just the way you want it.
BUT, IS IT A JUKEBOX OR NOT?
So, let's explore the jukebox
question. Can you select from hundreds of songs? Yes.
Can you randomly select and play any song on the disc? Yes.
Can you program it to play all evening? Yes.
Is it expandable? Yes. Do you have to put
in quarters? No.
So what's with the $400 MP3 Jukeboxes
you see advertised? Well, they use a hard drive rather than a CD and some of them
are quite large with 2, 10 and even 20 gigabytes.
Each CD holds only 640 megabytes.
So the hard drive units do hold more. But the nice thing
about CDs, is that you only carry copies with your originals kept safe at home.
Plus, at a buck apiece, if they are lost, stolen or stray, who cares?
Other than that, many of them
don't do a darn thing more than your $69 anti-shock MP3 CD player. Oh yes, some
of them have really neat computerized programming. And that's nice. By the way,
the player is less than 1-1/4 inches thick and weighs less than 12 ounces including
batteries. So it's about the same size as most $400 jukeboxes too.
So pick a song. Any song. Or let
the jukebox randomly play your whole 10 hour collection (or any of your regular
CDs) with great fidelity and unparalleled programmability.
