Making Your
Desktop Beautiful and Exciting.![]() Your desktop can look like this. |
| Thanks to our friends at Microsoft, it's just a single click to choose and
change your desktop image. With the 800 Image Grand Collection that means that
you can effortlessly change your desktop wallpaper background every single day
for the next 2 years and two months without repeating a single Spacescape adventure. Above is the desktop I've chosen for today. In the next section I'll show you how to choose today's desktop yourself. |
Choosing
Your Spacescape Desktop.![]() |
| Like I said it couldn't be easier. So open the folder with the Spacescapes
in it. Arrow 1.) Right Click the image you'd like to choose for today. You'll see a menu appear like the one to the right of Arrow 1. Arrow 2.) Then Left Click on "Set as Desktop Background" and you're done. That's all you need to do to choose any of the 800 Spacescape Images. It's just that easy and you'll love the results. Now let's move on to the Spacescape Screensavers. |
![]() |
| Installing the Spacescapes is very easy. Simply download them from the DAK
secure site. If you're not sure how to download your screensavers or anything for that matter, check out this special page that details the downloading and creating discs from your downloads. It's very useful to know how to download programs from the Internet, save and create discs. Click to visit the how to download page. Then: Arrow 1.) On the left you can see the Screensaver Installation Icon. Simply double click it and follow the prompts and you're done. Below the next section I'll cover personalizing the Screensavers on your computer. Arrow 2.) On the right is the Desktop Icon you'll get AFTER you install each screensaver. You can click this to instantly launch any of the screensavers. Or if you don't want it on your desktop, you can safely delete it. It will have no effect on the operation of the Spacescape Screensaver programs. I like them because I can jump from screensaver to screensaver with a single click. |
How
to Customize Your Spacescape Screensavers.![]() |
| Once you've installed your Spacescape screensavers (1of them,
some of them or all 10 of them) simply Right Click on your desktop, IMPORTANT
NOTE: You can Right Click anywhere on your desktop, just don't right click
on any icons because you'll get a menu to work with them, not with the Screensaver. Then when you see the menu above, just Left Click on Properties at the bottom. |
| Your
Computer's Display Properties - But FIRST Desktop Wallpaper Again ![]() |
When you first see your computer properties, usually it opens to Themes.
That's the look and feel of your desktop. Before we get to the Screensaver, I
want to show you one more thing about your Desktop Wallpaper. Just Click where
I have our big Red Arrow that says Desktop. |
Loading Desktop Wallpaper - The 2nd Way![]() |
| This is the Desktop Tab of your Computer Properties. Arrow 1.) Selects the tab. Arrow 2.) Shows you a picture of what Wallpaper is currently loaded, or which one you have clicked to Preview in the box at the lower left. Arrow 3.) Is the Browse Button. With this button, you can navigate to any folder in your computer and choose pictures to load into the Background Desktop Wallpaper folder. Loading pictures here does NOT put them on your desktop, it just make them a permanent part (till you delete them) of this easy access folder. See How to Browse Below |
How
To Browse For Background Wallpaper Images![]() |
OK this is very cool and most people don't know a few cool tricks of
Win XP. |
Back
At Properties, Now Click The Screensaver Tab![]() |
| This is the Main Display Properties Window again. Just Click Screensaver. |
The Screensaver Control Tab.![]() |
| Here's your Screensaver Tab. Arrow 1.) Simply shows you which tab you've chosen. Arrow 2)Shows a picture of the Screensaver you've chosen. Below to the left you can see the name of the screensaver. In this case it's DAK Spacescapes Top 100. You can open this tab and select any Screensaver you have on your computer. Arrow 3) is the button you click to access controls for any particular screensaver. Up till here, all the buttons and screens are simply Windows. From here on, it will be the powerful DAK Screensaver Program Engine. Onward. |
| Controlling
Your Spacescape Screensaver's General Look And Feel ![]() |
| OK this is the General tab. This is where your control begins. Arrow 1.) This shows you have selected the General Tab. It's also the 1st tab that comes up by default. Arrow 2.) This is where you control how long you want each image in your Spacescape Screensaver to stay on your screen. I find that 4-7 seconds pleases me, but there is nothing right or wrong. Set it how you want it. Arrow 3.) Here you have control over the order of viewing of the images. Sequential is easy. It's 1-100. Random is totally random and can even have the same image show before all 100 have shown. Mixed is more controlled and you normally would get all 100 randomly before seeing repeats. Arrow 4.) This is interesting. If you don't check this box, the Spacescapes Screensaver launches pretty much as you'd think. When the first one comes on, it just appears. If you have it Paint from the desktop, it seems to start from the desktop. This only applies to the 1st image when the screensaver launches. Arrow 5.) Like all programs, your DAK Spacescape Screensaver needs to have a serial number put in. This is where you come to enter the number we send you. Or you can simply wait for 10 days and when the program asks for the serial number, enter it then. Note: The DAK Spacescape screensavers run 100% completely and perfectly for 10 days. Then if you don't enter the serial number we send you they simply stop working. But like I said for the 1st 10 days there are no limitations and they are 100% complete and perfect. |
Spacescape
Size and Positioning.![]() |
| OK this is another interesting tab. All the screensavers are r 1024/768 pixels.
If that's your desktop size or even larger, then leave it set where I set it for
default, which is the top Radio Button. It resizes to fit the screen. If your
monitor is running 800x600, then you might choose the second Radio Button so the
images are reduced to fit. So that's all easy. If you have a wide screen monitor, you probably don't want it to stretch to fit screen as your screen is wider than it is tall by comparison so you might choose the bottom box. Behind all the screensavers I've put in black so that it will look like a frame on the sides. Anyway the best way to use this tab is to choose each of the 4 choices and launch the screensaver. Then you'll see which one you like best. |
Transition
Heaven - And You Control it all.![]() |
| OK, I love this tab. You have over 100 transitions and the best way to see
them in action is just to click on their names in the box to the left. You'll
see a representation move quickly across the small screen. I love the Line Drops
as I think they are very spacy. But you can try them all to see which you like
best. By default, I've turned them all on for you. Arrow 1.) Click here to see what the actual transition looks like and check the box or uncheck it if you like it or don't like it. Arrow 2.) To make it easier for you we have two buttons to make choices even easier. If you are only going to check a few or 1 transition type, use the Select None. Then just go check the few you want. If you are going to use all or most, then use the Select All then go back and uncheck any you don't want. Arrow 3.) This slider controls the speed and smoothness of the effect transitions. Slide it to the left to get really slow transitions and to the right for fast ones. Like everything else, we try to give you complete control of your Spacescape Voyages. Arrow 4.) This is your view screen. You'll actually see a representation of the effect in this box. Normally it's not the Spacescapes, but just a sky or sun. But it really is great for seeing which ones you want. The effects are a ton of fun and you'll really enjoy playing with them. |
Sound
With Your Screensavers Too![]() |
| You can have music play when your screensaver loads. And best
of all, it's your music. Trick 1. Even if you don't want music, a short ding is useful so you know when your screensaver launches. You can use the DAK sound effects or any of the system sounds that came with your computer. Track 2. If you're a DAKonian already, chances are you have our Wave Editor. If you do what I like to do is to reduce the sound volume of the tracks I load by about 50%. That way I do have my favorite music, but it's at a level that works in my office as compared to when I'm really focused on my music. Arrow 1.) Click this to open the Playlist Manager so you can load the tracks that you want to use. Arrow 2.) Here you can decide if you want your playlist to play forever when the screensaver is on, only play once, or just one song/track/effect to play once. Arrow 3.) The Add Button opens a search box to navigate to the folders where your tracks are stored. The Remove Button lets you remove a track and the Remove All empties the playlist. Arrow 4.) Now that you've loaded your tracks, you can adjust the order they play here. Just click on a track then use the up or down arrow to put it where you want it in your playlist. Arrow 5.) Want to hear a song while you're setting up? Click play. Now you'll be sure it's what you want. And Click stop to stop it. |
When Do Should
The Screensaver Disappear.![]() |
| This is easy. You can just leave these boxes checked. then whenever a mouse is moved, a mouse is clicked, a keyboard button is hit or the ESC key is hit the screensaver will disappear. I'm not sure why you'd change this, but if you want to, it's here for you to control. |
| I love Space and Science Fiction. I just love these Spacescapes and I sure
hope you will too. We all spend so much time in front of our computers that it's
becoming more and more important to personalize them as extensions of ourselves. Plus, by definition, you really can't put your computer in front of a picture window or you can't see the screen. So, instead of claustrophobic darkness, let the all new DAK Spacescape Adventures make your computer a more beautiful, interesting and emotionally warming place to be. Enjoy. . . Drew
