Your Say About DAK's Wave Editor & Recorder
I get letters. I hear about what's right and what's not. What's great and what's not. It's really up to you. I find and test each product myself. If I don't think it's perfect for all of us DAKonians, then it never gets in. But, what really counts is, What do you think? Does it fill the need? Is it better than anything else around? Is it a really good value? If it is, please let me know. If it's not, I implore you to tell me fast so I can reevaluate it and make sure there are no other disappointed DAKonians. That said, check out what you think because results may vary. Testimonials don't necessarily represent the results of all users and the past experience of one customer doesn't guarantee the same results for everyone using the product. So, In short, let me know.
This is a group effort. . . .Drew

"Hi , Thanks You've been a great help. This is really neat

I don't want to quit recording long enough to eat thanks again. You'll be hearing more from me ."

"HAVE BEEN BURNING OVER 2000 SONG AS OF THIS DATE.

BRINGS BACK FOND MEMORIES OF A SIMPLER TIME.

THANKS HAPPY "OLDIES BURNER"

"Hi guys,

This is the best hardware and software package I've ever used. I've been using computers since 1988. Most of the time, one part works and the other doesn't but you have put together a package that works if the instructions are followed.

Thanks for everything "

N. K. Withheld

"Dan, by God, I believe I've got it!

I cut my first baton twirling routine song for next week's new class. I saved it in CD quality and it sounds great on the burned CD.

[Note: Here she needed to remove 45 seconds from a song so it would be the correct length for a competition. It's easy to do with the Wave Editor. DK]

I will let all the other twirling coaches know about your wonderful product.

The customer support is fantastic as opposed to when you buy something more expensive from a store.

Thanks for everything!"

M.E. Southampton, NY

"Yippee!!! it worked! "

Thanks Dan

"Hello,

I love the Editor and the only suggestion I have would be to add tooltips to the different buttons etc. [OK Added. .DK]

in the program. It was a great program for a great price!

Thanks,"

W.P. Mount Holly, NJ

"Hey Drew

I am really excited about finally playing with the new mixer and the wave editor.
It really is easy and I am doing all sorts of things with it. Our singing group is learning to put our background music on MP3 and I am adding sounds from movies to my desktop theme. There's more but no time now. I've got stuff to record.
Thanks again"

J.L. Turpin, OK

"I am not very smart about these things (LP's to CD's). I am not very familiar with all these new terms like WAV, MP3 and WMA, etc.

I have been working through using this new mixer Interface and having a wonderful time. I have recorded some of my father's old, old, 78's and burned them to CDs.

He is in heaven because he can listen to his old records again."

D.B. Riverton, UT

"I love this!

I am making a video of my vacation & now the music fits the photos!

Thank you"

A.W. Salt Lake City, UT

"Hi Drew,

I am making CD's from LP's just fine. I found that I like to do them manually. I have used the Your Drewtorial is very good, in fact all tutorials should be that good! .

I have been wanting to do this for years, finally I searched the Internet a couple of months ago, ( using LP to CD ) and found your Software Tutorial. I remember your catalog's from about 14 years ago, so I decided to go with your Mixer Interface and Software.

I am using a BIC 960 belt drive turntable that must be 30 years old. It seems to be working as it should, the only question is the condition of the stylus."

J. H. Columbus, OH

"I finally got the equipment, hooked it up and am now converting my Husbands LPs 45's and cassettes to CD,

I think all the software and equipment are great. I am just getting started, even with the the written stuff I have to do it as I read in order to learn how.

But your tutorials were great and they help me a lot. This equipment is exactly what I needed.

I only have one question? I know the turntable can, but would you ever need to use the mixer on anything but the computer?

[Yes, all your Home Theatre Systems can play LPs if you use the Mixer. You can also use it with small self systems. Anything with a Aux. or Line In can now play records. DK]

Thanks for all your help!"
B.B. Big Spring, TX

"I have used the Wave Editor and the Click Pop Assassin to restore the first stereo LP I ever purchased (circa 1956).

The LP had been played many time over the years, and even loaned several times.

I can't believe the quality of the final CD that I was able to produce, and with a minimum of effort. I truly appreciate both programs."

D.W. Poughkeepsie, NY

"Drew,
All I can say is "Thank You!, Thank You!, Thank You!"

I have several hundred 45's from my high school days in the 60's that I could never part with. Even though I do listen to them sometimes via a vintage juke box, it's not very portable.

Now, with your help, I have portability and they sound better than ever.

Thank again,"

D. W. Vancleave, MS

"Man this is really great have done a few dozen records and a few old tapes. They actually sound better than the old originals!!

All your tutorials are great, they sure make this easy. Now all we need is a system to record vhs to video CDs or DVDs

Thanks"

E. H. Squires, MO

"So far, I have only tried to copy my 7 inch reel to reel tapes.

I have over 100 so it is going to be a while until I get to my records. Everything works GREAT. Any problems have been self inflicted by not reading the directions.

It is really easier than I thought it would be.

Thanks"

J. B. Grafton, OH

"Dear Drew,
You are welcome to use what I write. I am very pleased with my purchase and the results I'm obtaining.

I have a relatively large project I've undertaken, an album collection of some 400 records. It is nice to be reacquainted with it, as it has stood largely unused for some years now.

I'm going alphabetically, my AC/DC collection of 10 was recorded to 5 CDs in wave format having to leave out 4 or 5 songs, then I converted the files to MP3 and all 10 albums used only half of one CD.

Plus there's plenty of space to keep them on my hard drive for Juke Box playing. I'm using the recommended Music Match Player and I have found it quite useful.

Your tutorial was very helpful and easy to follow; I was recording before I finished it. The Click & Pop Filter works great and the results are error free.

I've found it convenient to record several albums and then run the processing at night because my current Click & Pop Filter set-up runs about 20 minutes per album side.

The Wave MP3 Editor is great. I have my technique down pretty good now and separating tracks is simple; I have yet to try the sequence recording because my linear tracking turntable is difficult to interrupt between tracks.

Will there be version upgrades? I wanted to check out some different skins but the download site has them for version 2.2 or higher.

Anyway, all is well and I'll continue working; I'm on Bad Company now."

D. D. Waukesha, WI

"This program works unbelievably. The tutorials are not only easy, but very easy to use and follow.

It is obvious a lot of time has been put into this. It basically tells you what to do step by step.

Thanks for a great product"

"Wow! was this easy. I plugged in my turntable to the Mixer Interface, I plugged that into the computer and was off and running.

I have MusicMatch Jukebox so I tried your instructions for using that software and it was a snap.

So far I have not had to use the Restoration software because my LP's are in really good shape.

The first LP I did was an old Bob Seger on called "Back in '72". The CD I made sounds like an original.

Thanks for this great software and hardware."

R.M. Keego Harbor, MI

"Drew,

The Click & Pop Assassin was easy to use, as advertised. However, I thought it cut off too much of the high end of the music (maybe just my imagination, but in music, perception is everything). I find it easier to just manually edit out the pops on each track as soon as I record it. It only takes a couple of minutes, and is more faithful to the music.

I should add that so far I've only been working with high-end (Mobile Fidelity) albums -- as I get into more mundane vinyl, I may find it necessary to use this. It is a very slick tool, and maybe I can play with it to set limits to where I'll be happy.

Overall -- great products and service (as always). The tutorials were great -- you gave me what I needed to get started, and additional information to go back to as I learn. Thanks."

"Dear Drew,
Yes, I by now have made a few CDs using your product.

It is true, the product is amazing as you have indicated.

I have a large collection of LPs of the Big Band era, popular music, and classic country that I was interested in copying to CD. I was doing research on what it would take to make that conversion.

From all of the research, it looked like a nightmare from the standpoint of expense for equipment and the enduring task of manually editing the soundtracks for noise. I was nearly to the point of abandoning the idea until I happened upon your WebPages where you described your equipment.

After reading some of your instructions and also some of the testimonials, I couldn't believe that a product like this could be available for the price. I thought it was just another "ho hum" kind of thing like another boondoggle arrangement; yet the testimonials seemed sincere along with the sincerity you expressed on your WebPages.

That convinced me to try the product and I am so happy I did.

After I received your product, the mixer and software, I studied your well written tutorials and started using the software right away.

That mixer is a godsend device for interfacing the phonograph to the computer. It provides superb isolation between the two units meaning no 60 Hz hum.

The software takes all the pain out of editing the waveforms; just unbelievable.

There was a learning curve, but I found that learning curve for this product to be so much simpler than any product I have ever used that has this much technology.

The reason of course is credited to your well written and presentation of your tutorial.

I have only one small suggestion but not really all that much. I thought you could have touched just a little more on recording level.

For example, where you show the screen for the Wave Editor displaying the sound waves (analog signal), there are two, what I would describe as boundary lines above and below "signal base line".

If the input signal level is set too high, it looks like signal clipping occurs and causes distortion of the processed soundwave. I couldn't find where you had much to say about that, so by trial and error, I determined to keep the signal level to fall within those boundary lines. Again, this is really not a big thing.

The BIG THING, of course, is that this is a tremendous product and a BIG THANK YOU for "simplizing" the task of LP to CD recording.

You may use this or any part of this email as a testimonial"

"I already unlocked the editor and have made 2 CDs so far, Boston the untitled album from 1976, and Boston More than a Felling from 1978.

Both turned out really well. I found it much easier to record the whole album sides, then separate the tracks manually than to use the SR button.

I made a couple of coasters though (useless CDs) while learning how to use the equipment. I set the level A slider to about 80% and the quality of my recordings was not good.

I took it down to the third line and I'm getting good quality now after I separate the tracks, save them as CD quality WAV files.

Overall I'm very pleased with the equipment...Well worth the money!!!!! "

D.B. Crestview, FL

"Sir: I have only had time to do 2 CD's.

What I have done so far has really been great.

I have tried other program's but none worked very well. Yours worked so well at the small pop position, I have not had to do anything else.

The tutorials were a great help also.
Thanks very much!!!!! "

J.I. Bucklin, KS

"Hi Drew,

I'm writing to say thank you for a great product.

I have only done 4 recordings so far and I'm very satisfied with the results. Even with my 30 year old BSR McDonald turn table, I got better recordings than I had expected.

I was also impressed with how fast your shipping was.
I ordered on a Sunday and received my equipment on Wednesday."

P. G. Sharon, MA

"Drew-
Sorry to take so long to get back to you.

Everything works great. The sound quality is excellent. The interface and the POP filter were easy enough.

Your tutorials were helpful and I worked through all the examples since I had all the programs you used. Since I have a Creative Labs Extigy sound card, I played around with the Creative Recorder and Wave Lab and found them more intuitive and flexible.

The "crop to selection" function with the WaveStudio makes cutting album sides into tracks very easy. "
P.B. Boston, MA

"Extremely easy to set up. Had a copy on a CD within 15 min. "

R. G. Racine, WI

"Hi Drew,
Just bought the editor and I love it.

I only need it to edit my three hour class lectures for playback in my car."

G. H. Southampton, MA

"Hey Drew,

The DAK Wave and MP3 Recorder is great!

I use it to edit and record voice over and music clips for a documentary DVD on "Sound Sculptures" by Harry Bertoia, an American sculptor from the '60s .Each of his sculptures
(tonals and gongs) emit a specific sound which is akin to a "metal wave"

It has been very easy to use and allows me to save the audio files in different formats. one program does it all for me.

great product.

Thanks

P.D. Rock Cave, WV

Ps: I remember w/ fondness receiving the old DAK catalogue a few years back and spending more than a fair share of time reading it..."

This is a great program and easy to use!

I can now record my violin playing for my students, copy it and give them a disc.

This is a great tutorial and I will tell my teacher friends to make "homemade" recordings for their students.

Thanks.

L. G. ARLINGTON, TX

Drew,

The wave editor has been WONDERFUL!!!

I've only done vinyl to CD so far, but I plan to try out the other features too. The tutorial was very easy to follow. I'm the kind of person that feels like I have to read all of the instructions first before I try anything out, so after I try to read a manual, I usually sitting there scratching my head!!!

The pictures were great.. (I'm a very visual person too!!) The 'only' problem I had was when I started out, I decided to read the 5 minute quick start and the sound wasn't coming out of my speakers. When I tried to click on the link to show me how to "unmute" windows editor, it was blank!!

So I ended up just reading the long version to figure it out (I would have ended up reading it anyway!).

My husband bought some Klipsch speakers for my computer and I've been sitting back enjoying the sound!! I'm so glad I ran into your website...

I'm very pleased!!

J. W. North Little Rock, Arkansas

I am so very pleased with your recording program!

I am retired and widowed and in my mid seventies and enjoy just "playing" with sounds and music (among many other things the computer provides).

I had never tried recording anything and was totally unfamiliar with the methods, procedures, terminology, etc. associated with recording and editing (didn't even know I could do that 'unprofessionally'), but upon sparking some interest recently in the possibilities of recording,

I learned I would need a special program to do that (makes sense). Not having that kind of program, naturally, I got on the internet to find and price one.

Most programs I found were absolutely too costly for my limited income--not to mention too difficult--for a fledgling like me that I had almost given up hope of being able to do this procedure and just accept that fact and live with it.

However, I found your site and found your wonderful program, and well within the reasonable cost that I could afford.

There was one piece of beautiful music on a web page that was in my e-mail with no way of saving it to enjoy it again later (without saving the e-mail). With your program, I was quickly able to learn and save this music. I confess, I am still having a little trouble with the volume despite the equalizer's settings and my computer control settings up high enough, I haven't yet found out how to overcome this small problem. Given time, I am sure I will.

Thank you again, for having this great program and priced so that anyone can afford it and enjoy its creativeness.

M. M. Cherry Valley, CA

Hello Drew,

Just a note to thank you for your Mp3 and Wave Editor. I had some problems after loading it ( not the fault of your software) and Dan was a great help in solving the problem.

I feel like I got a lot for the money in this package(I got the equalizer also).

Thank you again,

A. K. Summerville, GA
