Downloading Programs Is Easy

HOW TO DOWNLOAD PROGRAMS TO YOUR COMPUTER

Downloading to your computer is now really easy and the preferred way to get today's programs. I'm going to show you two ways to download. This simple download

You can download right to your desktop, or I'm going to show you how to download into a folder.

The advantage of downloading to a folder is:

1) you won't ever loose your downloads
2) if you want to make a backup copy, you can just drag the folder to your CD burner and burn a CD or put them on a RAM Disc or Jump Drive with the downloads.

Then when you want to reinstall, just put the CD into the drive and drag the folder back onto the desktop. Then install from there.

That's how to make a backup copy of your downloads from DAK and anywhere else you download software programs from.

OK let's see how to do it.
How To Download Programs,
Install them And/Or Save Them To A CD

FIRST,
Find a spot on your desktop where there are no icons like this.

Right click on any blank part of your desktop and you'll get the menu below. Don't click on a folder or an icon (above), but in between them.

If you're going to make a folder on your desktop, just Right Click anywhere on your desktop where there IS NOT a file or folder already.

Arrow 1.) After you Right Click, from the menu, choose New from the Pull Down Menu.

Arrow 2.) Choose Folder.

Now, Let's Name Your Folder.

Now all you need to do is name your folder.

Arrow 1.) This is what the newly created folder will look like on your desktop. The words New Folder will be in blue.

Arrow 2.)
Click your mouse into the blue area where it says New Folder and type DAK or whatever you like.

If the New Folder has already finalized. Just click on the name and it will turn blue again so you can name it whatever you like. If it doesn't, just keep clicking on the word New and it will.

Now, let's go to the backup or primary download page we gave you and download your programs.

For Downloading Using XP, Click Here

For Downloading Using Vista, Click Here

Left Click The Link You Want To Download
On most download pages, I've marked the links where you download the pages and you'll find them in the middle of the page, marked Download Here.

Most people just Left Click a Link that has the download.

Arrow 1.) Here's the Link. Left Click it.

Arrow 2.) Click Save on the box that pops up after you Left Click on the Link.

Important Note: NEVER EVER EVER Click open for any file on the Internet. Always save it to your desktop.

Or Right Click The Link You Want To Download

There's no reason you can't left click as above, but many of us like to Right Click the Link we want to download

Arrow 1.) Right Click the Link You want to download.

Arrow 2.) Left Click the 'Save Target As' choice.

Navigate To the DAK Folder & Choose Save
Where are you going to save the file. After you Right or Left Click, this is the dialog box you will get.

Important Lost File Note: The most common problem we have is that people don't know where their downloads went. You really can't lose the downloads, but they can sure be hard to find. So, put them in a folder and you'll be fine.

Arrow 1.) Take care and be sure you know where you are saving your file. In this case I've chosen the DAK Folder we created above.

Arrow 1a.) NEAT XP TRICK. If you want to save your download to the desktop, or just get to the DAK folder on the desktop then look to the left and you can click the save to desktop Icon 2nd down on the left in XP. You can choose that first, then the DAK folder. It's a handy XP helper.

Arrow 2.) You'll see the name of the file you are downloading here.

Arrow 3.) Just click save and you're done.

The Actual Download In Process
There's really nothing for you to do here, but this is the Windows Dialog box you'll see that shows you the progress of each of your downloads.

That's it. You are ready to click your downloads and install them.

HOW TO SAVE A BACKUP COPY OF YOUR DOWNLOADS To CD or RAM Drive.

If you've saved your downloads to the folder, then just drag the folder onto your CD burner and burn the CD. Or Put it on your Jump drive or Ram disc. That's all there is to saving a backup.

If you ever need the downloads, just put the CD back in your computer and then drag or copy the folder to your desktop. Then open it and install the programs.

URGENT CAN'T INSTALL NOTE: You can't install the programs directly from the CD. You need to drag or copy the folder to your desktop. Then install.

Info Note: The reason for the folder is that with .exe files/program files if you just drag them individually they tend to only drag shortcuts, not the program. That's why I have you put them in a folder. Burn or copy the folder to a Disc or RAM Disc. You'll be glad you did.
