A Thousand Words
Floppy Extinctinator Plus 3.2Gig /10Gig - It's true. A picture really can be worth a thousand words. And it's especially true with technology. As you look below, I hope that you'll see the parts, angles and buttons clearly so that you'll have a 100% clear understanding of just what this product can do for you. Products don't get reviewed unless I think they're good. I hope my pictures help you determine if you agree or not. . . Drew
It's even more than a Floppy Extinctinator. It keeps you from buying more CF and SM memory cards too. Just pop in a memory card. Push the copy button and that's it the contents of the card will be copied onto the 3.2 gigabyte hard drive inside. You can copy up to about 12,000 pictures, music files and more.
Plus, you can use the USB cable (included) to connect to your notebook or desktop computer and copy from the Extinctinator Image bank or copy and backup from your computer. It's that simple to use. And you can and will want to use it with multiple computers when you take work home from the office or work you've done at home to the office. Share with friends. It's up to you.

It's all done for you. The LCD display shows what's going on. Right now I have a CF card in and I'm copying to the hard disk. The progress bars at the bottom show that I just finished.
Wow, it really does fit in your hand. It's just 5.2" x 3.3" x 1.1". It's small. It's a light 11 oz. and it looks great. Push the button or plug in the USB cable and that's all you have to do.

There's absolutely nothing else to buy. Plug it into AC. It's included. Plug it into your car, boat, van or truck. The 12 volt cord is included. Can't get to power. NO problem. The 6 AA battery back (less the batteries) is included. Want to wear it on your belt. No problem. The great looking stitched case hooks right on. This really is a go anywhere master data keeper. You'll never run out of memory cards at the beach, in the jungle or even in the air.

OK here's where it gets really fun. You're looking at the "My Computer" screen on my XP computer. The Local Disk (H:) is what showed up as soon as I plugged this drive into my USB port. There was nothing else to do. Pop it in and start downloading and uploading. If you have Windows 98, Windows ME or Windows 2000, there's a small driver that you add to your computer. It's easy. Then you can use it anytime. It's the greatest thing for backup I've ever seen. And what a great way for me to get 10 card's worth of memory quickly and safely into my computer.

Look how easy it is. Here I'm dragging the DklogTest file from my desktop onto the disk. Can you see how easy this is? There's no limit. Transfer large files between two of your computers. Transfer movie, sound files and presentations instantly and effortlessly. If you can drag a file you can transfer it, back it up or share it. That's how easy this is to use.

Plus look at this. The 0001.ITD folder is the folder of pictures that I downloaded from one of my memory cards. It's so easy. This smart Image Bank creates a new sequentially numbered folder for each card you load. You'll always be organized with the Floppy Extinctinator Image Bank.

Here I'm showing you just how easy it is to back up your biggest files. Here I've dragged the entire DAK website from my C: drive to the Extinctinator. Is this amazing or what? So everything is 2-way. Drag it and drop it and it's shared, backed up and taken with you anywhere to any other computer. You'll have your files with you all the time. And you'll never have to worry about losing your critical presentations if your notebook computer is lost, stolen or strays. Back it up, transfer it and take it with you. Now it's all super easy. And super cheap at DAK's new low price.

A Quick NOTE About My Pictures.
Some of the pictures aren't as sharp as I'd put in the print catalog. You see I have to cut back their files sizes or this page would never load (especially if you're on a dial up modem).
The technical side is that I'm shooting JPEGS at 80-100 percent quality and I cut them back to 50-60% and pretty much limit them to 600 pixels in width or less so that they'll fit on your monitor and load reasonably fast. In short, each picture is about 450,000 bytes when I shoot it and 20-40,000 bytes here on the page. A picture for the catalog is about 6,000,000 bytes.
I've created this page using separate tables for each picture so that you don't have to wait for everything to load in order to start looking. The picture captions will display first and then the pictures (usually starting at the top, but not always due to the way your computer interprets the web).
BUT HERE'S THE BOTTOM LINE. I don't feel you can really know about a product unless the pictures are big and clear enough for you to really see (almost touch). Then you'll know what you're getting. So in my print catalogs the pictures can be sharper, but on the web I can show you a lot more angles, sides and parts of each product. I hope this helps. If I ever forget to show you some part of the product that you want to see, Email me at DrewKaplan@DAK.com and I'll do my best to add it to the page quickly.
