Edit Out Any Part. Make Your Music
The Way You Want It Effortlessly.
|
![]() |
|
|
One Click let's you Record and Edit your music.![]() |
||
| Here are your one click buttons. Most are self explanatory. But I'd like to
detail a few. Note the Undo and Redo Buttons. You'll have up to 99 Undo Redo Steps. So, you can experiment all you want when you're editing and you can always go back to where you started or anywhere in between. The Zoom In and Zoom Out Buttons are very powerful in this program. You can keep zooming in till you have identified even a single word or frankly even part of a single word. All you do is select an area and then click Zoom. Then Select again and you'll zoom in again. I've Zoomed in so that the whole screen is less than a second. So there's really no limit to how precise your editing can be. Of course you probably don't need this power but if you do it's here for you. Finally, you can zoom out in steps just like you zoomed in, or you can hit the Zoom X and it takes you back to the totally zoomed out state showing the entire recording in the window.
Loop Play is unique. You can select any area and then click the Loop Play button. When you do it will play that area without stopping forever. This is great if you want to memorize a section of a song, learn the notes, or even learn or practice a foreign language. It's really just repeat play, but it lets you select exactly what you want to repeat, even if it's only a 1/2 second long. Segment Record is unique to the program. (I think) Here's what you do. Assign a folder name to store your tracks and a prefix for the name of each track you want to save. Then start your music and click record. Then at the end of each track, click the SR Segment Record Button instead of stop and the program will AUTOMATICALLY save the track to the folder you picked and name the track with the Prefix you chose plus add a time code so that the tracks are differentiated. So, when you're done whether you have 5 tracks or 100 tracks, they'll all be in one folder with the Prefix_time name of each. Then just listen to them and rename the ones you want to keep. This is an unbelievably powerful tool that you have. Note: You can't just click the button between tracks without stopping the music because most computers don't save big audio files fast enough before the next track. So, lift the stylus from the record or pause your tape as you go. There are tool tips that appear when you place your cursor over each button, so you won't have any trouble understanding the rest of the buttons. |
New For Wave Editor PRO 2.5
- - Automated Timed Record.![]() |
| This is big. It's groundbreaking. It's going to take the hassle out of recording.
We've just added a Set and Forget Timer to the New Wave Editor Pro. Why do you
need it?
Now you don't have to baby-sit your recordings. Most LPs are about 20 minutes per side. Just choose a time a few minutes longer than the side of your record or cassette. Click Timed Start, then start your LP or tape and go do something else. You no longer have to keep an eye on when your recording will be finished. Now you can simply come back any time. Save your file. Separate your tracks. Edit out talking. Or, do whatever you want to do with your music. Now you can concentrate on your music, not the act of recording. You can select any time from 1 minute to 360 minutes (6 hours) and it's all automated for you. I've never seen a Length Timer incorporated into a Wave Editor before. This is a revolutionary improvement that will really free you to record while you do other things. It truly is a mega-time saver for all of us. Now you can convert all your Records, Tapes and Internet Radio easily and effortlessly. So, let's see how it works. |
| Easy Timed Record
Just Click The Configuration/Properties Button On The Main Menu to access your all new Recording Length Timer. New Length Timer Breakthrough (Don't let the number of arrows worry you) ![]() |
|
It's really easy to use (forgive all the numbers above, but I want to show
you everything). |
Short Version of Timed Record![]() |
| OK, here's the executive summary. Open the Timed Recording Box. Choose the
Length you'd like to record. Click Start Timer. I told you it was easy and short. |
Advanced Timer & Scheduler![]() |
| OK, this is a very different timer. What if there's an Internet radio broadcast
that you want to record at 8 PM tonight. But you're not going to be home, or if
you're like me you might have a 'senior moment' and forget to record it. Well, no problem. Now you can schedule your new DAK Wave Editor Pro to record for you at any time you like. And there's more. What if you want to record an AM radio broadcast or anything that's not in your computer. Just connect it to your computer using our Mixer Interface and leave on the AM or FM radio and set the timer to record. And don't forget all the great music that's probably on your cable system right now. Now you can record just about anything, any time you want. Now you don't have to be home. Now it's easy. It's like a VCR for your audio. OK, let's see how to use it. |
Record Any Time You Want - - - For As Long
As You Want..![]() |
| It's really easy and straightforward, but again, I want to be sure you see
everything you can do. So that's why I have so many arrows and numbers. 1. This is your Advanced Timer Scheduler. 2. This is the current Date and Time in your computer. Check to see that it's correct. If it's not, just double click your system clock in the lower right tray of your desktop. 3. Here's today's Date. You can change the date (see below) But now I'm going to record today. 4. Here is your Start Time. Just click the hour and set the time you want. You can click the little arrows with your mouse. You can use your up and down arrow keys, or you can type in the hour you want. Then just do the same for the minutes. 5. Do the same for your stop time. As you can see I'm recording from 11PM to 1 AM. Don't worry, I know and more important, the timer knows that we're changing dates. It's no problem. 6. Click the Start Button to turn on the timer. 7. Close this dialog box. That's it, you're ready to go. Important Note: The timer does not launch the program. (We don't want to take over your computer.) So, set the timer and minimize the wave recorder. Just don't close it or it won't record. The more you get into Internet Music, the more uses you'll find for our revolutionary new Wave Editor Timer and Scheduler. |
Long Term Scheduling![]() |
| OK, this is a new feature that I'm not sure you'll use very often.
(Or, maybe you will.) It gives you the ability to record tomorrow, next week,
next month or even next year. But, honestly even thought it works perfectly, because you have to leave the program open, but minimized, and you can't turn off your computer, you're not likely to use this feature very often for really long term recording. However, if you're like me, the next day or middle of the night, or early in the morning recording can really be a lifesaver. Because I live in California, I tend to miss morning conferences and shows that come from the East. Now I don't. So, for next day and middle of the night recording, this is a real bonus to have. Just don't close it or turn off your computer. |
| OK, back to Editing And Recording. |

So Let's Actually Save The Track![]() |

Let's Name Our Track AND WHERE
DOES IT GO? - - - DON'T LOSE IT!!! ![]() |

Oh Heck, Let's ALSO Save This As An MP3.![]() |
|
|
| Now Comes another DAK Exclusive Automated Track Naming And Saving. ![]() |
|
|
What Do You Want To Call Your Tracks?![]() |
||
Is This Great or what? All you do is Click Properties on the main menu and
pick 'Sequence Record' Then look at your options. First, you can choose the MAIN
name for the tracks you're about to record.
In this case, it's my favorite Folk Group, The Limeliters Yours can be anything you like. You can change this name with every album, every artist or whenever you want. It really makes coming back to a group of songs you've recorded effortless and easy. And it just takes 2-3 seconds to change. Oh, and don't forget to click 'Apply' when you're done. And there's more. This remarkable program actually creates a folder for you to keep your tracks in. (You don't even have to create it) Just enter the name of the folder you want your tracks to go in and that's where they'll go. You can use one master folder, or you can use 'sub folders' for each album or artist. So as you can see I'm using Drew Tracks for mine. But I could use C:\Drew Tracks\Limeliters if I want and then all these songs would be in a folder WITHIN the Drew Tracks Folder. You can send them to your 'My Music Folder' or anywhere. You know, keeping track of all your tracks can be a pain, so we designed this system so that the program does it all for you. Wait till you see just how easy this really is to use. And that what makes your converting your LPs to CDs, your Cassettes to CDs and your Internet Radio Streaming Music so easy and enjoyable. I've never seen this auto track naming and folder creating anywhere but here in the DAK Recorder & Editor. I asked for it. I worked on it. And finally we got it. |
So, Where Are Your Tracks Saved?![]() |
| So, where in the world are your tracks? This is great because you always want
to know where you're saving your tracks so you don't have to go looking for them.
(With many programs I get calls from customers wanting to know where the program
saves their tracks) Well I'll show you where they start out. But, you can then
direct them to go wherever you want. We start by default saving them in a folder
on your C Drive. But, you might want them in your 'My Documents' or in your 'My
Music'. It's all easy. First, just Click your My computer Icon on your Desktop. |
Here Are Your Drives.![]() |
| Once you're in your 'My Computer', you'll find all your drives. You may have
more or less than I do, but Double Click your C: Drive to see your tracks. |
Here's The Folder You Made. Great.![]() |
|
And Viola, here's my Drew Tracks Folder. Is this neat or what? And don't forget,
you can call your folder whatever you want. And you can have the program create
100 folders for 100 albums or have them make sub-folders or you name it. And the
DAK Editor will create the folder for you automatically when you click the Apply
Button in the Sequence Record Properties Box. Is this easy or what? |
So, What Do Your Named Tracks Look Like?![]() |
| And, Inside the Drew Tracks folder are all the tracks I recorded.
You see they all have my Limeliters Prefix, followed by the time code. All you
need to do is choose the ones you want and rename them as you go. You can play
them, you can edit them. You can do anything. It's all super easy. Don't forget, you can change the Prefix names with every album, or not. You can use a separate folder within a folder if you want. In short, it's all up to you. This program does all the heavy lifting for you so you don't have to. |

But what If you Just Want To Copy Your LPs or Internet
Radio Streaming Audio?![]() |
|
|
Which Is Your Computer Like?![]() |
| Here I show you what the pull down menu looks like on 3 of my computers. Each
has a different sound card, so when the DAK Recorder Editor polled the sound card
on setup, it got a different set of inputs from each. This is no problem at all. For recording LPs, 45s and cassettes, you'll want to select your Line In or Analog Mix. This connects to the Line In on your sound card. For recording streaming audio from the Internet or games or music videos, choose "what you hear" or Stereo Mixer. You can choose Microphone/Mic for the sound from your microphone. It's all pretty clear, it's just not exactly the same because the DAK Recorder creates the menu based on your sound card, not based on itself. |
Setting Up the Property Defaults - System![]() |
| You're in control of all the default settings of this professional Wave &
MP3 Recorder And Editor. Most of these you'll never use. But, it's good to know
what you can do. The top arrow shows the default temporary directory. You need to know this because about 20% of the computers don't seem to have this. When you click Record for the first time if you get a 'Runtime Error', your computer didn't have the directory. If you don't get the error, ignore my next paragraph. If you do get the error, simply go to your C Drive and make a folder that you can call MusicTemp. Then come back to this screen and type C:\MusicTemp\ and hit Enter. Now you have the directory. Oh, and when you hit enter, you won't see anything happen but don't worry. The program will know. Next, I just wanted you to see that there are up to 999 undo steps and that the 'Save Extra Non-Audio Information' Should be checked. |
Setting Up the Property Defaults - Scales![]() |
| OK, set the scales (the markings around the waveform) the way I like them.
But you can change this if you want. First, the horizontal scale I have set to
Millisecond. I like to see how long each track or recording is and work from that.
If you like number of samples, just choose that radio button. For the Vertical Scale, I like dB because that's what we are working with to show volume. If you prefer samples or normal (just numbers) change it to that. You can also select only the left or right channel if you desire. The others are minor cosmetic variations you can experiment with if you choose. |
Setting Up the Property Defaults - Color![]() |
| Don't like my colors? Click any of the names of the parts of the waveform
then click the Change Color button to bring up a color box you can use to select
new colors. |
Setting Up the Property Defaults - Recording![]() |
| If you can't get enough volume from your sound card, you can check these boxes.
I don't think you'll need to use this screen at all, but feel free too if for
any reason your sound card's inputs are too low. |
The Pull Down File Menu![]() |
| Most of this is self evident. But, you should know that the 'Save Select as'
is what you use when you're separating tracks. This is a simply great feature
that lets you directly save without pasting and opening another screen anything
you have selected. The Save wave image as a graphic is neat. Click this and you'll have a bmp picture of the waveform image you can save or share. The Covert Sample Type you probably won't use. It let's you save a stereo file as mono or a mono file to both tracks. You can also change the sampling rate of whatever is open. But we are already saving at 44,100Khz, so I think you're all set. Finally, and this is IMPORTANT, always try to use the SAVE AS instead of save. The reason for this is that as you're editing, you might make changes that you really don't want to keep. Maybe you liked the original better. Who knows. Here's the trick I use. I just add a number to the end so if I'm editing Limeliters, This Land, When I Save As, I'd use ThisLand2. It's easy. I always know that the highest number is the last one I worked on. Try it. |
The Pull Down View Menu.![]() |
| Again, most of this is already clear. And we've already covered the Delete
selected, Paste, Paste From File, Mix and Mix From File, Delete Silence and Insert
Silence. So, if you weren't clear about the difference between Paste and Paste
from file, here it is. Paste means that you would copy and then paste something from the open file you're working on. Paste from file, would be pasting the ENTIRE File that will open after you click this button into a point you've selected within the current open file. |
Skins For Look & Feel.![]() |
| I think that the skin of the DAK Recorder Editor looks great. But, if you'd
like a different color or look, check out the Select Skin Dialog box. There are
several other skins you can choose from. Important note: The skins for the DAK Recorder & Editor are very advanced. THEY MAY NOT WORK in Windows 95 and 98. They are really new. If you have any problems when you are using anything before Windows XP, just select NO SKIN and the program should work great. It just won't look as modern. It will look like all your other programs. |
The Pull Down Operation File Menu![]() |
|
Here's a list and description of all the 'Operations' you can perform. Try
each one so you get a good feeling of what they do. Some you'll use every day
and some, well in my opinion are basically useless. But, they are all here for
you. Amplify+ - This Amplifies the selected part (or all) of an audio file by +20% each time applied. Amplify - -This Decreases the volume of the selected part (or all) of an audio file by -20% each time applied. Fade+ - This Creates a fading out (loud to soft) effect in the selected part of the file. Fade- - This Creates a fading in (soft to loud) effect in the selected part of the file. Delay - This Creates a Delay effect in a selected part of the file. Delay is an echo effect that replays what you have played one or more times after a period of time. Flanger - This is an odd sound that many people refer to as a "whooshing" sound, or a sound similar to the sound of a jet plane flying overhead. Flanging creates a set of equally spaced notches in the audio spectrum. Flanging is created by mixing a signal with a slightly delayed copy of itself. Invert - This Inverts the selected part of a file file. Normalize - This Normalizes the selected part of a file. It amplifies the selection part to within the specified percentage, 80%, of the maximum level. Vibrato - This causes a slight variation of pitch. Vibrato equals a cyclical changing of certain frequencies up and down like trembling . Reverse - This reverses the file. It plays it backwards. Stretch+ - You can stretch a selected part of a file by a time of +20%. Speech is increased without frequency changing. Stretch- - you can stretch a selected part of a file by time of -20%. Speech is decreased without frequency changing. |
The Pull Down Operation Filters Menu![]() |
| You can correct problems in your music by reducing certain frequency groups.
This is what's called destructive restoration. So, use it sparingly. But if you
have the right problems, you'll not hear the loss that occurs when you use these
filters to help repair the audio problems. Band Bass - This Applies a Band Pass filter to the selected part of a file. The Band Pass filter consists of BOTH a Low Pass and a High Pass Filter combined together, so it allows only the frequencies falling within a certain range to pass. Low Pass -This Applies a Low Pass Filter to the selected part of a file. A low-pass filter eliminates unwanted high-frequency noise and interference. So, Low Pass means let the lows pass and stop the highs. High Pass - This Applies a High Pass Filter to the selected part of a file. A high-pass filter eliminates unwanted low-frequency noise and interference. So, High Pass means let the highs pass and stop the lows. Low Shelf - This Applies a Low Shelf Filter to the selected part of a file. A Low Shelf filter decreases the volume of the higher frequencies and lets the lowest pass. High Shelf - This Applies a High Shelf Filter to the selected part of a file. A High Shelf filter decreases the volume of the lower frequencies and lets the highest pass. |
Never Ending Features. Where Do You Want To Record.![]() |
| When you click the regular record button, you start at the beginning.
But what if you just want to continue on to a recording or track that you've already
got? Well with most programs you're out of luck. Here, just click your cursor
to the end or wherever you want the recording to start in the waveform and that's
where your ADDED recording will start. Isn't this easy. You're in complete control. |
Loop Play For Learning And More.![]() |
| Here I've selected a couple of words in Spanish that I want to learn to pronounce.
All I do is click Loop Play and the words will be repeated with no break forever,
or until I figure I can actually pronounce them. There's a lot you can do with this. My Wife used it to learn the colors in the coat from Andrew Lloyd Webber's 'Joseph And The Technicolor Dreamcoat'. What fun that was. There's lots you can do. And it's like repeat, except you select the exact section you want to repeat. Of course you could do a whole song, but that would be too easy. |
Insert Silence. Remove Silence. Why Would I want
that?![]() |
|
|
Mark It For Later Reference.![]() |
|
|
Mix And Paste In Content![]() |
| What if you want to add music from one song into music from another? It's
easy. Just put your cursor where you want to add the sound and click the 'Paste
From File' Button. Wasn't that easy? Want to Mix one track into another? Say you recorded yourself signing a 3 part round. Then you can paste in your 'prerecorded' file into the others till you have all 3 parts going. Finally, and of course there's much more I'm sure you can think of, if you have some music, you can play it and listen through headphones while you sing along. So, you'll end up with a complete orchestral accompaniment. Or mix yourself in several times and be a duet, a trio, a quartet, or even a whole choir. |
MP3 Info ADD, Change Delete![]() |
| You know how MP3 often shows you the artist, title etc. Well, you can add
that info by simply clicking the Info List in the View Menu. Honestly I rarely
do more than track name, but you can do it all right here. |

New DAK Wave Editor Pro 2.5 ADDED Tools Breakthroughs.![]() |
|
The new PRO Version, released June 4th 2004 Lets us see what's going on with
our computers like never before. Plus it lets you access your Windows Mixer FROM
WITHIN THE EDITOR so you don't have to go looking for it any more. There's a new Menu on the Pro Toolbar. It's
called Tools and it's where you'll find the Batch Converter, Memory Manager and
your Easy Access to your Windows Mixer and other sound components. |
BATCH CONVERT WAVE TO MP3 AND MP3 TO
WAVE FAST?![]() |
| A NEW SUPER EXTRA. Many DAKonians (that's you guys) have BOTH CDs in
their cars and MP3 players and have wanted to have BOTH Wave & MP3 music files. Also thousands of you have converted LPs to CDs with our system LPs to CDR Perfection system that now includes our Wave Editor. One problem has been that we offer one of the BEST Click & Pop filters ever created and it needs WAVE files, not MP3 files. So, there's been a lot of saving back and forth. OK, so now we have included the Batch Wave to MP3 and MP3 to Wave converter. Just put all the tracks (files) you want to convert in one folder and have them copied to another and you can convert 1, 10 or 100 tracks automatically. You'll love the freedom and time saving. And now it's included FREE with the DAK Wave Editor PRO v2.5. It's easy to use. First Choose the Input Folder. Just Navigate to where you have the files you want to convert. Then choose a new folder (one you probably just made) to receive the newly converted files. If you want to use standard 44,100 and stereo, just click the Convert Button and it will automatically convert all your files. It's just that easy to use. It will convert every file in your folder automatically. |
Memory Manager - Memory Info![]() |
|
Most of this info is just good to know. First, you can see how much RAM your
computer actually has. You'll see how much is used and how much is free. Now you
really do know with a single click how much memory is in your computer. |
Memory Manager - CPU Info![]() |
| Do you know what speed your computer is? What kind of CPU? How many CPUs you
have? Now you will. This computer of mine has a 2.53GHz CPU by Intel. And the
first arrow shows that While I captured this screen it wasn't doing anything.
Your should see it fly when I'm doing something. Remember, that you can use all this info any time. It's really not info about the DAK Wave Editor Pro program, it's information about your computer and what it is and how it's doing. |
Memory Manager - Windows Info![]() |
| OK, so what operating system do you have? I guess you know that. But did you
know which version you have? So when you hear of a bug fix, you can see if yours
is included? Also you'll see your user name and if you're in a network, the computer
name as well. Plus, there's a System Up Time Clock that tells you how long your
computer has been on since you last shut it down. Again, this is all good useful information that's going to make you a much more sophisticated computer user, especially when you're talking to a Tech, anytime, anywhere. Now onto your Instant Sound Properties access. |
| Finally Instant Access To Your Windows Mixer
and More! NO MORE HARD TO FIND CONTROLS. ![]() |
|
So when you go to the New DAK Editor Pro v2.5 Tools Menu and Click Windows
Sound Control, for the first time you'll have easy access to all your Windows
Audio Properties and more. |
| Here's Your Window's Mixer AFTER You Click The Advanced Button. ![]() |
| Here's the all important Windows Mixer. Now it's just a click
away. Check out my whole section on setting it up. It's just a few clicks that
you need to make. But if you can't hear your LPs and CDs through your computer speakers as they play. This is where your problem is. Turn it On. If you can hear your music through your speakers but you can't quite seem to get a recording, Turn on the recording section. If you can't record what you hear on the Internet, then choose Stereo Mixer, Wave, or What You Hear. Do it here or do it in the new DAK Wave Editor Pro v2.5. Be sure to check out my tutorial section on Turning On Your Windows Mixer. If it's not turned on, you won't be able to record. |
BIG DEAL- I SAVED IT FOR LAST
- DIRECT OPEN CD AUDIO (cda) FILES. ![]() |
| OK, this is hot. Up till now you needed to get a CD Ripper to transfer music
tracks from your CDs to your computer so you could copy them or edit them. It's been a bit of a headache but, Wave Editors don't come with CDA opening capability. Now the new DAK Wave & MP3 Editor/Recorder PRO v2.5 does. Just navigate to your CD drive as I've done above and choose CDA from the drop down box where I put my BIG DEAL arrow and you can now open CDA audio files instantly and effortlessly. This is the same box that you use to choose Wave & MP3 Files. So, now it's as easy to open CDA files as Wave & MP3 Files. This is a big, big extra. |
A few last things that I want to mention.
Oh, and I always make two copies of all my CDs. With CDRs costing only about $0.15-$020 cents, it's just a really good idea to have one as an archive and one to play. Since I have a 12 CD changer in my car and since it gets really hot when I drive in the desert I don't want to take any chances.
