At the top is the Editor with the sound card that's built into
my computer. What you see in the pull down menu are its input source choices.
The bottom part of the picture shows the DAK Editor AFTER I plug in the USB audio
adapter. As You can see, It takes over. THERE'S NOTHING YOU HAVE TO DO.
Just start the music, click record on the DAK Editor and you'll be all set.
Plus after you record, you can listen through your computer's sound card. You'll
use your computer's built-in sound card and you'll hear it all through your computers
normal speakers. You don't use the USB adapter for playback, just record.
Arrow 1.) This is my built in sound card. Before I plug in the adapter
this is the way the editor looks.
Arrow 2.) This is the pull down source select box that you use to choose
line in or What you hear when you record using your own computer's sound card.
IMPORTANT CLOSE EDITOR - You must close
the editor before plugging in the USB sound card so that the editor will recognize
it.
Plug in the USB sound card and wait for your computer to recognize it. It works
with Windows XP and Vista ONLY.
Arrow 3.) After you plug in the adapter, and launch the editor (you must
launch it after you plug in the adapter) this is the Default Setting that will
come up. Do Not Change this setting. It should say iMic and it will work perfectly.
If you try to change it here you will get an error. If it doesn't say iMic, then
you just manually make the change in Control Panel/Sounds & Audio Devices.
Arrow 4.) This lower box may say capture or wav. But as long as it says
iMic above, you are ready to record. Do not change the setting.
Arrow 5.) This is the Play Side of the Wave Editor. By Default the adapter
will take it over and set it for itself. BUT, you can change this side back to
your own built-in sound card so that you can listen to the sound AFTER, NOT DURING
record through your normal computer speakers that you always use.
IMPORTANT USAGE NOTE: I didn't realize
when I first tried the USB Audio Adapter that you could use it just for the recordings,
BUT AFTER YOU RECORD you can use your own computer's sound card for playback without
unplugging the USB adapter.
Just change the pull down box in the PLAY SECTION ONLY, you can't change the record
side or you'll get an error. Change the top iMic box, leave the bottom box on
whatever it says like volume or volume control. That's really neat. Or if you just
unplug the audio USB adapter, your computer automatically reverts to its normal
internal sound card settings.
